The Registry Interim

Our Advantage

Over 30 Years of Unparalleled Experience

Founded by former college presidents the late Tom Langevin and the late Allen Koenig, The Registry initiated and accelerated a new trend in American higher education—the utilization of outside interim presidents. A decade later the membership and the span of interim positions expanded to include senior administrators. This expansion occurred when the firm was acquired by Collegiate Enterprise Solutions, which made it possible for George Matthews and Bryan Carlson to join the leadership team. Today, with a membership of 1,000-plus, The Registry has experienced uninterrupted growth and expansion, as it continues to be the dominant firm in the interim executive space.

Value Proposition—Our Promise to Our Clients

The Registry is a membership organization—our Members are pre-screened, veteran executives who are immediately available to be matched to the needs and requirements of our college and university clients—all of which eliminates the need for an interim search. Because of this, The Registry can make this promise to you:

  • Our interims cannot be candidates for the permanent position, but they can be extended by mutual agreement in order to optimize conditions and timing for the permanent search.
  • We offer the most economical pricing by minimizing additional costs for our college and university clients—in fact, our primary business model often makes it possible for institutions to sustain and cap their overall costs at established levels.
  • Our pool of interims can be generated immediately at no cost or incurred obligation for our client institutions, other than travel reimbursements if and when campus visits are authorized.
  • Our interims are subject to a 30-day termination notice—so your costs are controlled, and the residual responsibilities and potential liabilities related to employee status are avoided.
  • The Registry business model eliminates the necessity to conduct two sequential open-market searches for the same position, all of which can be time consuming and potentially disruptive to the search for the permanent executive.
  • If you engage our interim as an independent contractor—which is our primary business model—your total monthly costs will be roughly equivalent to your established budget for salary and fringe benefits throughout the entire period of service.
  • Since 1992, the Registry has provided the best talent —and its members have delivered the best results.

Statement on Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
