We are pleased to share that Karna Kurtz has taken on the position of Interim Chief Human Resources Officer at St. Charles Community College. It is truly a privilege to support the placement of exceptional HR professionals like Karna with higher education institutions, and we look forward to seeing the continued impact of her work.
"I am enjoying my time in Missouri and working with the team at St. Charles Community College. As Interim Chief HR Officer, I am documenting key HR processes, including Recruiting & Hiring, Compensation, Performance Reviews, HR-to-Payroll flow, FMLA, and more. Additionally, I am collaborating with the SCC HR team to eliminate inefficiencies. For example, we are reviewing the reports they generate and streamlining them so that the same report can serve multiple purposes.
All of these efforts are contributing to the implementation of a new HRIS system. We are evaluating current systems to ensure we are fully utilizing their features. One example is SCC's applicant tracking system, where we’ve introduced a pre-onboarding process. This eliminates the hour of onboarding on the first day, allowing us to have the employee’s email, phone, and other system tools ready from day one—making their first day more productive and value-added.
Other initiatives include coaching the HR team, creating professional development plans, and reviewing HR policies and procedures. We’ve seen significant improvements, which are being measured through newly established HR metrics."
