Mr. Matthews has worked in the higher education sector for the past 28 years where he has been involved in interim and permanent leadership placements, consulting, public affairs, community service, and relationship management.
As the partner with The Registry overseeing marketing, Mr. Matthews has been a key contributor to building the brand of The Registry, providing the vision for the key messaging with the higher education industry and implementing direct and email marketing, print advertising and publication selection, and most recently social media marketing,. As a Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Matthews is directly involved in interim leadership placements and in the creation of the consulting practices and facilitating consulting engagements.
Mr. Matthews has also been a key contributor to strategic business development with The Registry and played a major role in transforming The Registry's legacy client base of mostly small to medium independent colleges into a more diverse and broader client base by moving strongly into the public education sector.
Before working at The Registry, Mr. Matthews was the Director of College Services for Athletic IQ, Inc. (AIQ), which developed the first standardized test for athletic ability (the athletic equivalent to the SAT test). Prior to this position, Mr. Matthews served for over twelve years at Northeastern University and ultimately as the Director of External Affairs for Northeastern University's Center for the Study of Sport in Society. He also served as the Director of the Northeast Regional Office of the National Consortium for Academics and Sports, a consortium of 220 colleges and universities dedicated to maintaining a balance between academics and sports.
Mr. Matthews is active in his local community, and is currently serving his fifth term as a school committee member for the Lincoln-Sudbury Regional High School District having served as chair and vice chair, and is a former trustee of Massachusetts Bay Community College. He holds a bachelor of science degree from Northeastern University.
